The woodwork is just divine.

Back in 1898, Caroline and Fred Mason built this grand Victorian home on the corner of 21st and T Streets — which was one of the most exclusive and elite areas of Sacramento, California at the time. And their 3,469-square-foot design didn't disappoint their neighbors: The outside alone featured a stunning corner tower and picturesque Tuscan columns. But while the bones were impressive, sadly later homeowners neglected the structure.

That's where the current (and fourth) residents, Alice and Bill Smith, come into the picture. They snatched up this home in 1967 when it was in total disrepair and gave it a new foundation, wiring, plumbing, and even roof (brutal). The good news? Some of original interior details were salvageable, like the carpeting and wallpaper. And the gorgeous Roman Ionic columns help divide up the space on the main level between the living room and the parlor.

Today, the interior is bright and bold — from the green entryway to the deep red bedrooms. But perhaps our favorite part of the home is the circular porch that provides a dreamy space to take in the west-facing view that overlooks the river and Capitol dome. If you want to enjoy these evening views, it'll cost you a steep $999,000 — but since we're suckers for unique homes that sounds more than fair to us.
